The Itinerary
Day 1 - Touch down in Hanoi
Welcome to Vietnam! Your journey begins in the vibrant capital city of Hanoi, a place where old-world charm meets modern energy. After arriving at the airport, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel to settle in and relax after your flight.
Take the rest of the day to unwind or wander out to get your first taste of Hanoi’s magic. From the hum of scooters weaving through the Old Quarter to the aroma of sizzling street food and the calm reflection of Hoan Kiem Lake, the city instantly captivates all who visit. Whether you choose to explore a little or simply rest up for the adventures ahead, your Vietnam experience has officially begun!
Day 2 - Hanoi Old Quarter
Today’s adventure takes you deep into the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter – a maze of lively streets, rich history, and irresistible flavours. Meet your WOLO Experience Leader at the Crossing Vietnam office and set off on a walking tour that captures the essence of Vietnam’s bustling capital.
Wander past colonial architecture, ancient temples, and local markets alive with colour and character. Taste Hanoi’s famous street food, from steaming bowls of phở to the city’s iconic bánh mì, and sip on traditional egg coffee as you take in the sights and sounds that make this city so captivating.
As the day winds down, return to your hotel with your senses awakened and your heart full of Hanoi’s charm.
Day 3 - Free Day!
Enjoy a free day to explore Hanoi at your own pace. Wander through the buzzing streets of the Old Quarter, sample mouth-watering street food, or simply relax at a café and watch the world go by. You could revisit the famous Train Street to experience the thrill of the passing trains up close or stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake for a quieter moment in the heart of the city. However you choose to spend it, today is yours to savour the sights, sounds, and flavours of Vietnam’s lively capital.
Day 4 - Head to Sapa
Leave the bustle of Hanoi behind and head north into the misty highlands of Sapa, a region famous for its dramatic mountain scenery and vibrant hill-tribe culture. After an early morning pick-up from your hotel, enjoy a scenic five-hour drive through winding roads, terraced valleys, and breathtaking views of northern Vietnam’s countryside.
Arrive in Sapa and check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and acclimatise to the cool mountain air. Take a leisurely stroll through town, browse the local markets, or simply unwind and take in the views.
Day 5 - Sapa Cultural Experience
Set out on a cultural journey through the misty highlands. Meet your WOLO Experience Leader at 2PM and begin with a leisurely walk through Sapa town, stopping by the iconic stone church and lively town square. Hear stories of the region’s history and the fascinating Love Market, a traditional courtship ritual unique to the Hmong and Dao communities.
Continue towards Cat Cat Village, following scenic trails lined with ethnic homes, small cafés, and breathtaking mountain views. Meet local villagers, learn about their daily life, and, depending on the season, walk to the picturesque Tiên Sa Waterfall.
As the afternoon draws to a close, unwind at a hidden mountainside café and enjoy a refreshing drink while the sun dips behind the terraced hills. Return to your hotel by early evening with your heart full of Sapa’s charm and spirit.
Day 6 - Sapa to Hanoi
After a relaxed morning in Ninh Binh, it’s time to make your way back to the capital. Check out from your hotel and board your shuttle minibus at 12:30PM for the scenic journey north to Hanoi. Sit back and enjoy the changing landscapes as you leave behind the peaceful countryside and return to the lively rhythm of the city. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the evening at your leisure, perhaps exploring the Old Quarter or enjoying a final taste of Hanoi’s famous street food.
Day 8 - Head to Halong Bay
Leave the city behind as you set out for one of Vietnam’s most breathtaking natural wonders, Ha Long Bay. After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel for a scenic drive through the countryside to the bay, where emerald waters and towering limestone islands await.
Board your cruise and settle in for an unforgettable overnight journey. Glide past dramatic karst cliffs, hidden caves, and floating fishing villages as you take in the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a delicious dinner on board while the sun sets over the bay, painting the sky in shades of gold and crimson. Fall asleep to the gentle lull of the waves – a truly magical night on the water.
Day 9 - Halong Bay to Ninh Binh
Wake up to your final morning on the water and enjoy breakfast as your Ha Long Bay cruise makes its way back to the pier. Around midday, disembark and meet your private driver for a scenic journey south to Ninh Binh, often known as “Ha Long Bay on land.”
Arrive in the early afternoon and check in to your hotel, then take the rest of the day to relax and soak up the peaceful surroundings. Whether you choose to unwind after the drive or explore the quiet countryside, today offers the perfect pause between two of Vietnam’s most beautiful landscapes.
Day 10 - Ninh Binh Nature Discovery Experience
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel for a full-day Ninh Binh Nature Discovery Experience, exploring a region rich in history and natural beauty.
Begin with a visit to Hoa Lư Ancient Village, the former capital of Vietnam, where you’ll learn about the country’s royal past under the Dinh and Le dynasties. Then, enjoy a peaceful countryside cycle, passing rice fields and limestone peaks before sitting down to a delicious local lunch featuring Ninh Binh specialities.
In the afternoon, board a traditional bamboo boat for a scenic journey through Tam Cốc, gliding along calm waterways and beneath dramatic caves surrounded by emerald-green mountains. For those seeking a little extra adventure, an optional trip to Hang Múa (Dragon Peak) offers panoramic views of the valley after a rewarding climb.
Return to your hotel in the evening with a camera full of incredible views and a heart full of Vietnam’s natural beauty.
Day 11 - Farewell Vietnam!
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Ninh Binh before your journey home. After breakfast, take in the final views of the peaceful countryside or enjoy a slow start to the day before your private transfer to Hanoi Airport, scheduled five hours before your flight. As you make your way back, reflect on the incredible memories made , from misty mountains and ancient temples to emerald bays and warm local smiles.
